Download Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth:
To download your new synthesizer, go to the following address:
https://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth
At the bottom of this page you’ll find the « Download » section
Click on the Coolsoft_VirtualMIDISynth_xxxx.exe link to download the latest version of the synthesizer installation program.

This is usually downloaded to the ‘Downloads’ folder on your PC.
Installing the Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth synthesiser:
Choose your language and click « OK »:

Click Next:
If you see any applications listed on the next screen,
simply right-click on them and choose « Close This Process ».
First time installs should not show this:
Click the « Install » button:
Click « Next »:
Check all boxes except the one that says « VirtualMIDISynth Needs SoundFont Files To Work
….. » You already have the TOH SoundFont:
Click « Next » and you should see a screen that looks like this:
Click on the « Plus » button on the right to browse to your SoundFonts folder
and select « Timbres Of Heaven GM_GS_XG_SFX V 2.0.sf2 »:
Click the open button to load the SoundFont file into the chain list:
Next, click the « Midi Mapper » tab and make sure it looks like this:
Check your installation:
From now on, if everything has gone well, when you launch Karaboss, you should see « VirtualMIDISynth » indicated at the bottom right of the MIDI player.

Otherwise you’ll get the following red display, a sign that you’re still using the filthy ‘Microsoft GS Wavetable’, synonymous with equally filthy sound:

How do I get back to the sound bank settings window?
You want to set up your synthesiser again but you don’t know how to display its settings window:
- Using the « Start » menu > letter « V » > « VirtualMIDISynth Configurator »
- Using the explorer C:\Program Files\VirtualMIDISynth\VirtualMIDISynth.exe
- Launching Karaboss. You should see its icon appear in the service bar
