The MIDI sequencer is the tool used to create or modify MIDI files.
It can be likened to a score editor. It comes in two forms:
- The classic editor: you see the score with notes and staves.

- The Piano Roll: this is another way of presenting the notes:

It seems simpler than traditional notation, which requires a knowledge of music theory, but it would be illusory to think that you can create MIDI files without knowing anything about music.
How do I display the editor?
The MIDI sequencer is hidden by default. There are several ways of making it visible:
- I want to edit an existing MIDI file:
- From the explorer, select a MIDI file and click on the ‘edit’ button.
- From the MIDI player:
- Player stopped: by clicking on the menu View & Midi sequencer
- Player stopped or playing: by using the shortcut key F12, which operates in toggle mode (hides the sequencer or shows it).
- From the explorer, select a MIDI file and click on the ‘edit’ button.
- I want to create a new MIDI file:
- From the explorer: click on the menu « File » > « New »
L’éditeur apparaît, celui-ci permet de saisir des notes sur une portée (piste) existante, de créer ou supprimer des portées, d’affecter un instrument à chaque portée.
- From the explorer: click on the menu « File » > « New »
How do I display the piano roll?
The Piano Roll is available via the menu « Display » > « Piano Roll ».
Print a score in PDF format
